All Limited Edition oak framed canvas wall art pieces are considered Original Art. They are all printed, stretched and framed in house using the finest archival inks and canvases. Finished with Hahnemühle canvas varnish, the gallery wrapped canvas is protected from ultraviolet rays to prevent fading and discoloration.

The canvas is wrapped around 1 1/2 inch stretcher bars for depth and structual integrity.

For the frames, I begin by ripping 1 1/2 inch x 1/4 inch walnut boards down to 3/4 x 1/4 inch strips that run the length of the canvas piece and stain them with a pure black stain to achieve the darkest of blacks. These are lined up with the back edge of the wrapped canvas and nailed directly to the stretcher bars with 1/2 inch brad nails.

The oak is 1 1/2 inches wide to match the depth of the canvas and 1/2 inch thick. The oak is sanded to a smooth finish and stained with a color that will enhance the framed image. Then I line up the oak with the back edge of the walnut for a flush fit and nail it through the walnut and into the stretcher bars with 1 inch brad nails.

Note that the 1 1/2 inch wide oak is the same width as the canvas and twice the width of the walnut. When the build is completed this makes a 3/4 inch deep by 1/4 inch wide space between the frame and the canvas. The depth of this space is accentuated by the black stain on the walnut and creates the floating style canvas frame.
